Things continue to linger... I will feel like OKAY, maybe today?. I am getting better!
Then hours later...
Back down for the count.
I have absolutely refused, by more than a few specialists, to go back to the hospital. Why? Because people like me don't make it out.
Facts are the facts.
Right now, I am in the stage where my body is trying to bring up the infection. Problem this time around, dealing with pneumonia... is the infection happens to be located in the lower part of my lungs.
I try to do comparisons, to when I had double pneumonia over a decade ago. Trying to remember, how I got over it. But with two totally different locations within my lungs... there is no comparison.
Ironically, the same EXACT scenario!
(This time around it was someone else... more of that at a later date, because I have better things to focus on with my energy. Like getting better! I refuse right now to give my energy to the person with sheer ignorance... amen)
Individual is sick with the swine flu. Comes over to a holiday event sick. Thinks it's funny. Sneezing, coughing... I get sick by catching their germs. Then end up in the hospital. X-rays and later nuclear testing... double pneumonia, upper lobes. You end up with scarring of your lungs once they completely heal, from having pneumonia. Permanent scarring. Less lung function.
Anyone who intentionally brings their germs around you... knowing they are sick... isn't a good person. PERIOD!
I finished the last round of antibiotics yesterday. And I'm already feeling the beginning of what will be... another round of something stronger.
Instacart has stayed busy with me. Only a few positive things to come out of Covid-19.

Dogs Can Sense When We Are Sick
Some of us have an extra healing aid around… our pets. When I’m sick, my fur kiddos stay right by my side, as if holding vigil until I recover.
Can dogs really know and sense when we are sick?
The answer is yes! Dogs, in particular, have several special ways that help them indicate if a person is ill or not. One of those ways is with their amazing olfactory abilities, or rather, their miraculous sense of smell.
Certain breed of dogs can have up to 40-50 times the scent receptors than us humans, making their sense of smell about 100,000 times stronger than ours! When a person is ill, their body chemistry will change, and a dog’s sensitive snout may be able to detect these subtle changes, letting them know we are sick.
Dogs can be trained to sniff out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the human body, helping with early detection for illnesses, including cancer. Often with 90% or more accuracy, the trained nose of a dog can smell lung cancer on someone’s breath, pinpoint the location of a mammary tumor, or detect bladder or prostate cancer from someone’s urine.
A dog’s nose can alert us to blood sugar changes and ketone presence in diabetics, or let us know when someone with epilepsy is about to have a seizure.
So if your furry family member seems to be paying attention to a certain part of your body more than usual, perhaps it’s time to listen to your canine companion and get checked out!
Our canine companions are also keen observers of our behavior, and can often tell when we aren’t feeling well, just by noticing subtle changes in our daily routines. Perhaps we are more tired and less mobile than usual, or we suddenly are home from work for a few days. The lack of energy you may feel when you’re sick is quickly sensed by your pets, letting them know you are feeling under the weather.
It’s also been noted that dogs can recognize our facial expressions. When we are tired and sick, the energy often leaves our faces, and our dogs see this happen. A dog sees this change in our behavior and expression, and a common response is that of appeasement. Dogs will actually lick the tears from your face when you are sad, as if they know comfort is needed now.
So next time you’re under the weather, let your furry family members help heal you!

I got hit a few days ago..
Tomorrow, I am back up to the hospital for scans.
We know, from the past 20 months... I have ascites that has shown up on various imaging.
Secondary complications, from the tumor progressing. Pockets of fluid that collect around, and in-between organs, that surround the tumor.
What Covid-19 brought to patients... is the ability to e-visit 24-hours with oncology specialists, who are on call with your group. The ability to call your connecting hospital and even stat urgent testing. Even calling in ahead of time, mediations.
Any patient, who is already battling and ends up adding secondary complications. Or... in my case, pneumonia from those who fail to be proactive around patients. Wearing a mask when sick.
Oncology patients with progressive cancer, tumors that were not successfully put into remission by oncology treatments, are 10 times more susceptible to catching airborne germs.
If you think any patient, has no rights to already be... and feel absolutely miserable enough, dealing with the symptoms and complications from a tumor/tumors/lesions.
If you think any patient, doesn't have the absolute rights to express and show feelings...
ALL FEELINGS.
You are absolutely WRONG.
Any parent, parents who fail to place their child or children FIRST. Young or adult child/children first, during and after diagnosis... including during and after oncology treatments. Is not a parent or parents and failed as such.
Anyone, who is battling alone. Without family. Please know you my friend, are not alone.
There are many online support groups, that will fill in those who are absent during your journey.
It's perfectly OK and absolutely normal to FEEL every single emotion, that comes your way during your journey.
It would be more absurd to say... you don't feel.
We as patients, all feel.
We struggle and the road is not paved easily for us. The roads ahead... are sadly, unknown. Day to day, how you will feel... are certainly, unknown.
We, as patients... live in the moment. We, as patients... live day by day.
If you, as a parent, tell me on the phone to get rid of those that never faltered... stayed 💯 by my side, during my oncology journey...
During your unexcusable absence.
If you tell me, to get rid of those 76% in the United States, that also consider a part of their own family. Those as well, that are not walking the oncology journey. I am talking about a parent, telling me on the phone, more than a handful of times and documented, to get rid of my family members, my pets. That were there for me, no matter what. During years of human beings, totem pole, complete absence.
If you put me in a position... by saying such, hatred words. Time and time and time and time again. My decision will be automatic. My decision is actually, quite easy. You automatically make my decision easy by such statements, time and time and time and time again.
I choose time and time and time and time again... those family members of mine, who faithfully remained by my side.
My pets... My unwavering, loving part of my family.
The same, as the other 76% of households in the United States. That also consider their pets, a permanent part of their family.
