I had my first of many post surgical video appointments this week. 12-hours was my limit on going zilch with the old pain medication/narcotics. I have officially surrendered my attempt at being heroic 🏳 flag.
The insomnia has been off the charts (up 33-hours) with such a drastic diet, syringe liquids. Down 5.5 pounds in 6 days.
My attempts at getting some fresh air this morning, turned into another failed heroic moment. 15 minutes later, after bending over to just trim back some flowers... winded, dizzy and back to vomiting.

Anymore, I just shake my head. I am in a totally different mind set. For me, my health.
This childish behavior used to bother me. But I have come to realize with wisdom... you can't change peoples immature behavior. However, what you can change is how you respond.
The next generation watches our every move. As an adult, you are the example. What the next generation sees are the actions of adults around them.
Make sure yours is a positive one.
All else fails, remember one golden rule. You have the power to remove yourself from negative, toxicity of others. No one is worth your health nor emotional well being.

Owning my experience in this new part of life, my journey, is about the freedom of expressing myself. It is about feeling every darn emotion, no matter how raw, as deeply as possible.
I don’t buy into the narrative that I should just deal with whatever life hands me, accept it, and then lie about how I’m doing.
HA!... No thanks.
The reality, is that true suffering is a beast. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
I am not “fine.”

I'm pretty darn proud of myself with doing my best over the past 12-hours. No pain medication.
With the pain that I am now feeling. This has been quite a feat.
I have always been one for trying holistic means. Shaman music, videos not only help me to relax. But as well, all of my fur kids. Who needs visiting nurses when I already have the best around 🐶🐶
Shamanism is meditation of sacred sound, Native American. Shaman music helps in spiritual, emotional and physical healing.

What word should I use to describe how I felt. Taking my first look in the mirror at what used to be my face.
Horrified? Alarmed? Frightened?
"Disbelief."
When surgeons try to explain how brutal of a surgery you are about to endure... believe them. There was no way, I could had prepared myself. To no longer recognize myself in the mirror. Post surgical reality of still a long ways off to some sort of normalcy.
What we do know, is a bit further extent of maximum radiation treatments that did extensive damage to surrounding organs. That was 5 years ago and I am still paying for it. The easy part is knowing you can still live, survive with 1 kidney. I will continue dealing with those hurdles as they come.
Honesty, means the reality that it's far easier to accept internal damage. What people cannot see. Having to look at a person you no longer recognize, that is looking back at you in the mirror? An extremely humbling experience to understand that what doesn't kill you, can permanently change you.
It will be a few weeks before they get labs back on the abnormal bone growths. Jaw resection takes time to heal. It all depends on how quickly my body can heal. I was forewarned that the structure, appearance of my face will go through many changes during recovery. Not for the better.
I'm still in the beginning shock phase of disbelief. Not recognizing myself in the mirror is horrifying.
I have my first of many video appointments with my specialists starting next week. I also have my first consultation online with my cosmetic surgical group. It all just feels like a really bad dream.
I know in the end, there is a lot to gain from this hellish experience. There is some sort of wisdom to be had, when it all makes sense.

Almost finished up with odds and ends. Crossing my fingers Eric stays on top of responsibilities and taking care of my fur babies, eyes will be watching. Everything else... covered. I don't think I could be anymore prepared or ready to begin this next part of my surgical journey.
