He was actually, the very last surgeon, who took a few weeks to review my records. An extremely rare case, that other surgeons could not solve. Two weeks, to be precise. Studying several years worth of medical imaging and a lifetime worth of surgical reports.
He was the final and last of 17 surgeons, that saw me over the course of many months. Easily, over a year.
He solved my case.
Directing a group of oncology specialists, he saved my life, long enough to enjoy a year of being pain-free.
Long enough to travel and actually feel some normalcy for a change.
We knew oncology treatments were only a temporary fix, to far greater problems.
Seven years later... I got seven extra years of life, and for that I am forever grateful.
I never got the chance to thank Dr. J.
I never got the chance to come, face to face again, as he transferred his expertise back down south. Continuing to take his years, decades of training and surgical expertise. Saving the lives of so many others.
My case came full circle. But now, in the hands of his colleague. Those he trained. Helping to also save lives in the field of critical care, trauma surgery.
